Excuse me. I just heard from the Chinese Mass Media that if I just apply for the Hospitality Management, I only need to get 6 points of IELTS in all 4 aspects respectively. Is that true? And I have been a freshman in a Institute for this major. Thus, is there chance for me to transfer to your university? Thx

As the transfer student, I find that Cornell requires English writing classes as prerequisite"Two College Writing/English Composition (not literature or writing intensive) courses or one writing/composition course and one Public Speaking course."

Me too, but I live in California. I've been reading up on reviews, and Google map(ping) the school. It doesn't replace going, but its fun to look at! :D

Our communications major is part of Cornell's Agricultural and Life Sciences College and you can find more specific information here: http://communication.cals.cornell.edu/ and we also have a history of art major in the College of Arts and Sciences (info: http://as.cornell.edu/academics/departments.cfm#historyofart) as well as another art program in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning (http://aap.cornell.edu/art/index.cfm). Hope this helps!

Hi Jennifer! I don't think there is really one characteristic Cornell emphasizes over all others- the admissions officers really try to look at your application as a whole. For some blurbs from the admissions website and other useful info, try looking here: http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/what-cornell-looks . good luck!

I am applying for a foreign exchange to Germany, and I am uncertain as to whether I should exchange next year (my junior year) or as a fifth year student, which would mean taking a gap year before college to study abroad. My concern is that I had planned on taking a full schedule of advanced placement classes next year, which would be difficult if at all possible while in another country.

Hi Hannah, Is your question whether to take a gap year or exchange next year?
                • Hannah Gershel

Yes, I'm not sure whether it would be better to exchange my junior year or during a gap year before college.
                • Carmen Martínez

I don't think it matters which year you take the gap year as long as you are using that time for an enriching experience (perhaps something you can detail in your admissions application).

Hi Kii! The average GPA, SAT and ACT scores are listed in the following website: http://admissions.cornell.edu/sites/default/files/Class%20Profile%202015.pdf That being said, this is what Cornell looks for: http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/what-cornell-looks (not just academics)

Hi Jacob! We have biological sciences and biology and society majors in our College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (http://cals.cornell.edu/cals/prospective/admissions/academic-programs/index.cfm) but unfortunately we do not have a nurse practitioner program.
                Rachel Nordine

I know that Cornell pays a lot of attention to where you attend school prior to applying to them. I'm a senior in high school currently dual enrolled at Valencia Community College and hoping to attend the University of Florida after I receive my A.A. here. I want graduate degrees in the fields of Zoology and Veterinary Medicine. Do you think with a track record like that, I would have a chance of getting in? (Additionally to meeting all the academic requirements.)

Hi Rachel, I would recommend looking at our transfer requirements here: http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/transfer-applicants/admission-requirements and make sure you are looking at your specific major's requirements (http://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/transfer-applicants/tips-applying)

I'm only a sophomore in high school and I wanted to know if playing an instrument (bassoon) could help me with getting into Cornell. I don't want to be a music major, but could the talent get me a scholarship or set me apart from other applicants? (Given a good academic standing, of course)

Hi Kasey, you can definitely include that in the application but unfortunately, it will not get you a scholarship from Cornell because we only award need-based scholarships. There are plenty of websites where you can find scholarships for the musically talented however, like here at Zinch or http://www.fastweb.com/
