Hi Rebekah! Thanks for your interest in Vanderbilt University. At the determination of individual departments, Advanced Placement Examination grades with a score of 4 or 5 may be accepted for credit (Chemistry and Physics require a score of 5 for credit). The amount of credit that may be awarded corresponds to the course work waived, up to a maximum of 8 hours in any subject area. Students in the College of Arts and Science are limited to a total of 18 credit hours earned by any combination of advanced placement, international baccalaureate credit, advance international credit, and credit by department examination, counting toward the minimum number of hours required toward the degree.If you subsequently take a course for which you received AP credit, the AP credit is removed from your record. Vanderbilt University does not grant credit for the Human Geography or the International English Language examination. For students in the School of Engineering, no college credit is given for IB Physics (standard), AP Physics B, and AP Statistics exams.
